QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
- Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate required
- Certified in Medication Administration required with recent related experience (within the last two (2) years) required
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with serious mental illness required
- Knowledge of Recovery Oriented Practice Supporting Patient Choice
- Knowledge of Forensic Nursing and Legal Framework is an asset
Skills/Abilities:

Must be able to respond and fully participate in all codes (White, Red, etc.) required

Must adhere to the Hospital’s core values
-
Good working knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice required
-
Ability to apply conflict resolution skills required
-
Excellent level of interpersonal skills required
-
Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required
-
Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals as required
-
Ability to effectively assume a role as a collaborative member of the health team

Basic computer knowledge is an asset

Valid Class “G” driver’s license required

Good attendance and work record required

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Must be able to work all scheduled shifts (days, nights, weekends)

Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers an visitors

Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization

The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario
NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.
NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.
NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.
A major teaching centre for students in medicine, psychiatry, nursing and allied health professions, NBRHC is proud to be affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Nipissing University, Canadore College and several other Ontario colleges and universities.
