requires a

TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

LOCATION: Madawaska Family of Schools, Opeongo High School, Eganville & District Public School

SCHEDULE: 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week, 12 months per year

TERM: Permanent, Full-time

RATE OF PAY: $35.90- $36.71 per hour (Group 9)

POSITION SUMMARY: A key member of the ICT Department, the Technical Support Specialist assists in the overall maintenance of hardware, software and networks.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Two year electronics engineering technician diploma or two year diploma in information technology. Over six months, up to and including one year of related experience. Ability to obtain Lenovo Warranty Certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong technical knowledge of hardware, software, operating systems, networking and peripherals in multi-user LAN/WAN environments. Comprehensively use hardware and software technology, for project and resource management. Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing. Demonstrate integrity, initiative and enthusiasm in achieving results. Succeed in a fast-paced environment. Work effectively independently as well as in a team environment. Make appropriate, realistic and timely decisions based on consideration of facts and alternatives. Direct activities towards timely completion of assigned tasks; adjust priorities as required; adapt to constant interruptions. Strong organizational and time management skills with particular attention to detail. Handle sensitive and confidential material with discretion and ensure protection of information. Focus on providing excellent customer service by identifying and meeting customer needs, using processes and procedures that are customer oriented and seeking solutions to resolve service issues. Adapt to changes in process, systems and organizational structures. Strong knowledge of applicable corporate/departmental policies and procedures including occupational health and safety. Valid Ontario Class G Drivers’ License; access to personal vehicle for travel to Board sites and will be required to transport equipment.

Hiring will follow the requirements outlined in the CUPE 1321 Collective Agreement and the RCDSB Administrative Procedures. Members of the bargaining unit will be given first consideration. The Board reserves the right not to fill a position.

Our southern-most schools are in Arnprior and our northern-most school is in Deep River. We have seven secondary schools and 24 elementary schools. In addition, we have adult high schools and Programs for Alternative Learning (PAL) in Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke and Barry's Bay.
