Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for casual positions of Skating Head Coach in the Recreation Programming division of Parks & Recreation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the direction of the Community Recreation Program provide on-site supervision and instruction of the weekly skating program
- To provide on-site direction to Skating Coaches in the implementation of the skating program, assist with schedule of skating coaches
- To implement and continually improve the inclusive lesson plans for skating program activities
- To ensure all skating coaches utilize a standard assessment
- To maintain excellent customer service/communication with instructors, parents, and participants
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Coaching Level l Technical and Theory (Skating)
- 3 Years’ Experience teaching all levels of Skating Program
- First Aid Certification
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing. may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer's discretion.
COMPETENCIES: Communication, Customer Service, Organization and Planning, Risk Management, Teamwork and Cooperation, Valuing Diversity, Initiative, Decision Making.
WORK STATUS: Casual/Seasonal – October 2025 - March 2026
HOURS OF WORK: Casual, up to 15 hours a week per location. A head coach will be hired for each of the following locations. Shifts are as follows:
Eastern Shore Community Center: Saturdays 1:00pm-2:00pm
SALARY: Non-Union, $26.20/hour
WORK LOCATION: Cole Harbour Recreation Center, Eastern Shore Community Center
CLOSING DATE: Applications will be accepted up until 11:59pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
