Position Overview Whitecap Resources is thrilled to offer an outstanding opportunity for a student enrolled in a technical GIS program. Join our team for a 4-6 month practicum, starting in May 2026. This hands-on experience provides a unique chance to apply your GIS knowledge and gain valuable skills in a dynamic work environment.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Create and edit spatial data and mapping products using ArcGIS and FME.
- Assist in the migration of geospatial data from Oracle Spatial to Esri SDE using FME, SQL, and Python.
- Collaborate on creating and updating metadata, mapping standards, and work processes.
- Support mapping procedures and contribute to spatial analysis.
- Develop Experience Builder applications and Story Maps.
- Prepare and present reports and presentations as required.
Primary Qualifications And Skills
- Currently enrollment in a technical GIS program at an accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent.
- Practicum student for May 2026 (4-6 month work term).
- Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS Pro Desktop.
- Experience with ArcGIS Portal and AGOL.
- Knowledge of FME Form and Flow and ESRI Enterprise Geodatabase.
- Ability to write Python and/or SQL is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team atmosphere.
