Kiwanis Nursing Home is looking for aCasual Relief Cook!

Kiwanis Nursing Home is a compassionate, resident-centered nursing home dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a supportive, home-like environment. By joining us, you will be joining approximately 150 other caring and amazing staff members in our 100-bed home in Sussex.
We are currently looking for aCasual Relief Cookto support our busy summer months!Please note: This is a casual position withno guaranteed hours**, and is intended to cover leaves for vacation, illness, etc.
Our Cooks are responsible for the preparation, cooking and distribution of food and beverages for our residents. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who thrives working under pressure, enjoys working in a fast-paced role, and is looking to make a positive impact in our home.
Some of what you'll be doing:

Coordinating and delegating duties to dietary staff;

Preparing breakfast, lunch, supper, beverages, and snacks;
-
Baking items such as desserts and breads;
-
Ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment as needed;
-
Portioning and serving meals to residents;
-
Monitoring and documenting food and refrigeration temperatures;
-
Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment
-
Other duties as assigned by the Lead Cook and/or Dietitian.
What we're asking for:

High school graduation or equivalent; -Successful completion of a post-secondary culinary program (REQUIRED); -Block three apprentice or Red Seal Cook (REQUIRED);

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills;
-
Self-motivated and able to complete tasks quickly;

Physically capable of performing assigned duties (frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, etc.) -Flexibility to work all types of shifts (early mornings, days, evenings) andon a call-inbasis;
-
The successful candidate will be required to complete a medical check, vulnerable sector check, and Department of Social Development background check as a condition of employment.
