The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor (Planner/Scheduler) to join our Coleman Mine in Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts.
The Maintenance Supervisor (Planner/Scheduler) manages maintenance processes to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient operations within set standards. This role focuses on planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies, and collective agreements. The Supervisor drives continuous improvement in crew performance through established work management practices and may provide relief supervision when needed. Responsibilities include identifying variances, addressing issues, and leveraging opportunities while aligning work with VPS and Asset Management Framework.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Manage systems within the area of accountability to ensure zero harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community while meeting or exceeding quality and quantity targets and controlling costs within budget.
- Execute the “Plan Work” element of the Asset Management Framework by reviewing work order status daily, prioritizing tasks, and planning approved work orders for resource procurement and execution before the required date.
- Incorporate crew input into planning packages, develop and use work templates to improve efficiency, and plan work to minimize operational impact without exceeding deadlines.
- Lead and inspire crews in safety, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism, provide supervisory relief when required, and coordinate maintenance work components to achieve area targets.
- Ensure compliance with VPS principles, legislated regulations, company policies, and collective agreements while communicating and managing risk situations and initiating investigations when necessary.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to achieve maintenance objectives, manage inventories and supplies, schedule training to maintain qualifications, and control overtime within established guidelines.
- Close work orders with accurate codes and comments for future analysis, coach employees on safety and behavioral standards, and take corrective actions when required while promoting continuous improvement.
- Acquire and maintain technical knowledge and leadership skills, manage plant activities during off-shifts as required, and perform other duties including providing relief coverage to the Superintendent when requested.
About You
Education:
- Grade 12 completed or GED equivalency is required.
- A College Diploma or University Degree in a related industrial field is preferred.
- Valid HDET (421A) trade certificate for the province of Ontario is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working within SAP and the Prometheus add-on as a Planner or Scheduler.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading crews.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the HDET trade.
- Experience in the mining/construction environment in maintenance would be an asset.
Skills:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
- Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
