Based out of our Powell Service Division, The Project Engineer will work with all functions of the business and customers to support large and/or complex projects and technical challenges. The Project Engineer will serve as a support and advisor to the Projects teams to help Powell deliver best in class project execution.
Essential Responsibilities
- Actively support project planning for large and/or complex projects
- Review and provide guidance on supplier technical document requirements
- Assist in developing customized QC plans based on customer specifications
- Advise and consult with projects teams, sales, senior management, and customers on complex needs and companywide opportunities
- Oversee and/or support front end design studies as required
- Support technical discussions and negotiations with clients and suppliers
- Interact with customers and other external stakeholders to consult and develop creative technical solutions
- Participate and advise in risk review meetings
- Ensures project alignment between customer requirements and company objectives to maximize benefit realization
- Provide recommendations and technical support on engineering submittals and reviews
- Provide support for large and complex project changes
- Attend and actively participate in project review meetings for large and complex projects
- Sealing/Stamping of deliverables produced by our in-house engineering teams. Including switchgear, panels, bus duct, electrical building packages, commissioning packages, etc.
- Anticipates and supports the resolution of complex technical issues and clarifications
- Document clear and concise technical responses to complex questions, clarifications, or issues
- Support the development of factory acceptance test plans for large and or complex projects
- Actively support and participate in factory acceptance tests as required
- Provides support and or attends factory acceptance test for procured equipment
- Collaborate across multiple teams and help team members make informed decisions
- Train, mentor and provide advise across multiple teams and functions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Actively participate in professional associations
Minimum Qualifications
- BS Degree or MS/PhD preferred and 10 more years of relatable experience. PE strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Canadian Electric Code (CEC), CSA and IEEE Standards
- Ability to accurately explain and foster understanding of concepts and ideas to individuals and groups is essential

- Proven ability to answer questions for customers (both internally and externally)
- Capable of Documenting clear and concise technical responses to complex questions, clarifications, or issues
- Ability to develop and implement training for colleagues and customers
- Ability to coach and develop

- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence a matrix-organized team through the lifecycle of a project

Working Conditions The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. There may be some work in a manufacturing environment and exposure to the elements of our factory. Additionally, there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
