Who We Are Looking For You have experience as a full-cycle Accountant. Organized and motivated, you take ownership of a portfolio of companies to ensure the accurate maintenance and recordkeeping of financial transactions. You dive deep into tasks, interacting with all levels of the organization while maintaining professionalism. Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and accounting principles will help you excel. Experience in property accounting is considered an asset, but it is not required; if you are interested in learning, we are happy to teach you.
You are flexible in a rapidly developing company, continuously looking to improve processes and introduce automation for better workflow. You embrace change, recognizing that as we grow, adaptation is necessary. If you are willing to learn, proactive, and focused on solutions, you will succeed with this finance team.
The position is hybrid, requiring our finance team to be in the office at least 2-3 days per week, especially during training. We value teamwork, believing that collaboration fosters strong relationships and a supportive environment.
Job Description The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a portfolio of companies and will work to deliver accurate and timely reporting for business leaders to make decisions. Reporting to the Controller or Accounting Manager and working with the accounting team, the ideal candidate will have an intermediate or expert level of QuickBooks, MS Excel and knowledge of Financial Reporting.
Roles & Responsibility
- Responsible for an assigned portfolio of small companies
- The full cycle includes all A/R, A/P, and journal entries.
- Prepare, and submit accurate financial statements for assigned portfolio.
- Create and maintain cash flow projections for multiple entities.
- Prepare and submit GST, PST, HST, WCB & EHT reports on schedule.
- Maintained filing system and backup to support financial records.
- Create intercompany invoices, requests, and follow up on approvals.
- Advising management on any exposures or liabilities and recommending improvements when possible.
- Assist with the preparation of documents for investment offerings and capital raise.
- Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualification
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience.
- Post-Secondary degree, diploma or certificate in bookkeeping, or relevant experience.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Great team player who can work independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to communicate confidently with vendors, clients, stakeholders, and management.
- Must be proficient in verbal and written English.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
