##Assistant Fire Chief

BASIS: FULL TIME, PERMANENT | CLOSING DATE: APRIL 10, 2026, AT 9:00 AM

This is a supervisory and administrative role involving leadership, planning, operational decision-making, and compliance oversight. The Assistant Fire Chief works closely with department leadership, officers and external agencies to maintain readiness and ensure community safety through proactive and effective fire and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Assistant Fire Chief supports the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief in leading fire department operations, ensuring effective emergency response, fire prevention, training and day to day operations of the Fire Hall and Paid On-Call Fire Fighter crew. This role oversees safety protocols, training, and operational planning, working collaboratively with officers and staff to maintain high standards of public safety in accordance with the British Columbia Fire Services Playbook.

Qualifications The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years firefighting experience, Class 3 BC Licence with air endorsement, EMA First Responder Level 3 First Aid (to be acquired within 2 years), and NFPA 1001. A combination of training and experience may be considered.
