Your Opportunity:
The Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART) is a collaborative of partners including Alberta Health Services, Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse, AB justice, and Police/RCMP. CSART provides trauma-informed medical treatment, emotional support and reporting options to people who have been sexually assaulted in the past 7 days. CSART patients are primarily seen at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Center (SMCHC) but the CSART team will travel to any Calgary Emergency Department if the medical condition of the patient prevents them from travelling to SMCHC.
Survivors of domestic and sexual violence require comprehensive and holistic trauma-informed care by personnel with specialty training and knowledge. The CSART nurse will provide this specialized care to all survivors of sexual assault who present to any emergency department or urgent care AHS Facility in the City of Calgary and who consent to CSART services. The CSART nurse will facilitate and promote the emotional and physical well-being of these patients in a supportive, trauma-informed patient centered environment, in alignment with the vision, mission and values of AHS and CSART.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum two (2) years of current nursing experience required. Strong decision-making, critical-thinking, assessment and teaching skills demonstrated. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high stress environment. Demonstrated Excellence with communication, counselling and crisis-management skills. Ability to lift the off-site sexual assault examination kit and supplies in and out of vehicles (approximately 35 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner courses an asset. Completion of Forensic Nursing courses is an asset. Current, recent nursing experience working with victims/survivors of sexual assault is an asset. Knowledge of STI diagnosis and treatment an asset. Trauma-informed Care & Harm-Reduction and stigma training an asset.
