This is a Temporary contract for up to Eight (8) Months Are you a Registered Nurse with an interest in patient fertility, looking to specialize in an area that serves a diverse patient population with compassion and empathy? As a Fertility Nurse, you'll have opportunities to gain personal fulfillment by helping patients navigate their fertility journey, building meaningful connections, and contributing to a significant life event.

About Mount Sinai Fertility Mount Sinai Fertility is committed to making the best options available to patients seeking to create families and preserve their fertility while supporting their overall health and well-being. We are an ambulatory unit, open 7 days a week with 2 satellite locations in the Greater Toronto Area. Our average annual number of treatment cycles is 3,400. As a teaching hospital, we help train the next generation of fertility professionals. We offer a wide range of fertility treatments including: Cycle Monitoring, Timed Intercourse, Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT), Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET), Medically Indicated Fertility Preservation, Egg Freezing and Sperm Banking.
In This Role You Will
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of patients and their partners/family
- Coordinate care for patients and their partners receiving treatment in the departments various programs (e.g. IVF, IUI, oncology banking, etc.)
- Communicate with other team members such as physicians, residents, fellows, embryologists, andrologists, administrative team and social workers
- Provide patient education in one-on-one and group settings
- Assist and/or perform various procedures such as IUI’s, OPU’s, ET, sonohysterograms and hysteroscopies
- Provide emotional support and counselling to patients, their partners and families
- Support patients through the various ethical decisions that may be required as treatment options are explored
- Provide emotional support and grief counselling to patients who are not successful in achieving pregnancy
- Participate in education of various health professional students and colleagues
- Participate in professional development, quality improvement and research activities within the program
Job Requirements Mandatory
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor’s degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience
- Recent experience in perinatal and/or women's health nursing
Preferred
- Recent experience in fertility nursing
- A baccalaureate degree from a CNO-approved nursing program. Applicants in their final year or near completion will be considered
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Recent experience in IV/venipuncture
- Experience facilitating group education sessions
Skills and Knowledge
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Ability to apply nursing knowledge of infertility and the hormones involved in reproduction. Ovulation induction, controlled ovarian stimulation and third party reproduction
- Confidence in communicating with patients and families about sensitive issues (i.e. grief and loss, pregnancy termination, sexual functioning, and relationship concerns)
- Confidence in working with diverse patients and families including members of 2SLGBTQI+
