We are currently looking for a Senior Civil/Conveyance Design Engineer to join our Calgary and Vancouver offices and take part in exciting and engaging water infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity.

You will have the chance to work on key infrastructures including

  • Large and small diameter watermains and sewers
  • Distribution and collection networks
  • Pipe Rehabilitation
  • Site Civil to support our municipal Facilities team

As a Senior Civil/Conveyance Design Engineer you will be responsible for supporting overall work progress and technical performance on the projects. Working with other members of our team, you'll work closely with business group project delivery leadership or other senior project manager/operations leaders who provide oversight and mentoring.

Key duties will include the oversight of

  • Engineering calculations and drawing preparation (e.g. hydraulics, pipe design, fittings and reinforcement, material and equipment selection)
  • Technical Memos, Reports, and Specifications
  • Alignment selection, vertical and horizontal
  • Lead design of site grading, site servicing, erosion and sediment control, as well as stormwater management, infrastructure, roadway surface drainage systems, municipal storm sewers, stormwater facilities and LID measures.
  • Support and collaborate with our Conveyance, Water Resources and Buildings teams on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as with the client.
  • Support growth of a specialized team; coaching, mentoring and assisting junior team members in their career development.
  • Coordination of design with various stakeholders for permits and approvals
  • Support our construction team with site visits and inspections

You’ll be expected to be in the office on average 2 days a week, with the expectation to travel for client /site meetings and occasional team meetings.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or applicable discipline and/or equivalent experience).
  • Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) as a professional engineer in the Provinces of Alberta and/or British Columbia
  • Minimum 15+ years' experience in an engineering consulting environment.
  • Understanding of relevant American Water Works Association (AWWA) and Hydraulic Institute Standards (HIS) an asset
  • Experience managing and coordinating multiple disciplines on small to large projects, including the ability to successfully manage scope, schedule, and budget, an asset
  • Experience in design of large and small diameter linear infrastructure
  • Experience in trenchless design with methods such as HDD, TBM and MTBM

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in pumping station design
  • Experience in condition assessment, rehabilitation
  • Experience proposal preparation and lead
  • Experience in alternate delivery methods
  • Experience designing using Autodesk, Microstation software
  • Experience using hydraulic modelling software an asset
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent report writing skills

123,800.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

187,330.00

The base salary range for this position is $123,800.00 to $187,330.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
