Mott MacDonald’s Transportation Planning team is seeking a creative, motivated, and experienced Principal Transportation Planner to lead our growing team in Vancouver. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to shape the future of mobility and city-building in the region.

As a Principal Transportation Planner, your responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

  • Lead and manage the local transportation planning team, including recruitment and staff development
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction on transportation planning projects across Canada and North America
  • Manage and deliver multi-modal transportation projects, with a focus on modelling, public transit, urban integration, and city-building
  • Support account leadership for key clients, driving business development and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Lead proposal development and opportunity pursuits, including responses to RFPs
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful delivery
  • Facilitate stakeholder and public engagement processes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support integrated project delivery
  • Represent Mott MacDonald at industry events, conferences, and professional societies
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of the Transportation Planning Practice across North America
  • Travel may be required to support projects and initiatives across the region

To be successful in this role, the selected candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in transportation engineering, urban planning, or a related field
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning, with professional experience in the Vancouver market
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Strong technical background in transportation planning, including modelling, transit planning, and urban street design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to research, present, and convey complex information clearly and concisely
  • Confidence in engaging professionally across all levels of an organization and with external stakeholders
  • Passion for public transit, sustainable transportation, and improving communities through positive social outcomes
  • Experience with infrastructure design and delivery is considered an asset

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range is from $160,000 - $198,000.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
