Your Opportunity
Stantec Ottawa Office is seeking an experienced Landscape Technologist to join our team and assist on projects. Our location in the National Capital Region provides many unique opportunities to work on projects of local and national significance for private and government clients. Your Key Responsibilities
You will work with general supervision and direction on a variety of projects, ranging in size from urban in-fill projects to subdivision plans and campus developments, as a team member of a larger project in collaboration with other professionals and experts.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Produce construction drawings and plans using computer-aided drafting programs.
- Provide preliminary drawings/sketches/notes for projects, redlines and plans for submittals.
- Assist in the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary landscape design team.
- Work with the Landscape Architects in designing the site, grading, and planting layout on projects.
- Work closely with the Landscape Architects and Planning Team in recommending the best use of project tools in order to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Assist design team in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and construction take offs.
- Perform thorough quality control of construction documents and provide design ideas and solutions.
- Conduct site investigations and construction inspections.
- Prepare presentation material.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Through demonstrated experience, you have honed your planning and design development skills working on the development of urban spaces, commercial, residential, roadway or green space projects.
Capabilities and credentials include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of designs and construction documents.
- High proficient in relevant software programs including AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator). Knowledge of GIS, Auto Turn, etc. an asset.
- Proficient in 3D and rendering software.
- Ability to work with others on a variety of projects, from small to large complex projects.
- Working knowledge of codes and design requirements specific to local geographic market.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
- Demonstrated industry practice knowledge and commitment to excellence in customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in English or French. Bilingualism is an advantage.
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 4 years of experience.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
