Operational Technology (OT) Engineer
Location: Windsor, ON (Hybrid)
Reporting directly to the Manager, Operational Technology, the Operational Technology (OT) Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of operational technology systems supporting the SCADA and communication networks, in collaboration with the Manager, Operational Technology. As these systems are critical to the Hydro Operations and Water Production departments and have a direct impact on public infrastructure, this position ensures system reliability, security and performance, including response. Supports strategic planning and asset management through data analysis and engineering design. The Operational Technology Engineer provides technical recommendations to management and collaborates across departments to ensure operational continuity.
The duties include but are not limited to: designing and maintaining OT systems for utility operations, in collaboration with the Manager, Operational Technology and Water and/or Hydro Engineers; preparing control and electrical schematics for construction and installation using SCADA, OMERS and control system processes; collecting, analysing, and interpreting SCADA/ADMS data to support engineering decisions; establishing and maintaining OT asset management standards; leading and supporting OT projects across hydro and water domains in conjunction with the Manger, Operational Technology; providing timely troubleshooting for hydro and water control systems, including SCADA and network issues.
The successful applicant must have the following skills and competencies:
- University degree in Electrical Engineering with Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng.) or working toward obtaining P. Eng (EIT status).
- Minimum of five (5) years similar experience.
- SCADA network analysis software and GIS.
- Thorough knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs, RTUs, RTACs), Digital and Analog relaying, secure data network infrastructure; including network switches and routers.
- Ability to design, review and interpret electrical circuit diagrams (including complex control diagrams, single-line diagrams, etc.).
- Computer skills including building database queries.
- Thorough knowledge of relaying protection and control troubleshooting.
- Detailed knowledge of communications infrastructure including fibre, cellular, 900MHz, Wi-Max, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VPN devices, and associated operating systems and software.
- Thorough knowledge of generator connections and impact on grid operations.
- Water treatment and/or experience working in a utility considered an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of communication protocols such as ICCP (Inter-Control Centre Protocol), DNP3 (Distributed Network Protocol 3) and modbus protocols.
Salary Range for Qualified Candidates: $107,996 to $119,995
