This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in designing and optimizing the power grid of the future. As a Senior Power Systems Engineer, you will lead and execute high-level transmission planning studies, provide technical expertise to both internal teams and clients, and mentor junior engineers. You will leverage advanced power systems software to conduct steady-state, dynamic, and specialized studies, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure projects meet quality, budget, and schedule objectives. Collaborating with leadership and cross-functional teams, you will influence processes, enhance efficiency, and contribute to business development efforts. This position allows you to make a tangible impact on energy infrastructure while working in a forward-looking, innovative environment.
Accountabilities:
· Conduct high-level bulk power system studies using software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
· Perform steady-state, short-circuit, dynamic, and transient stability analyses, and specialized studies like Sub-synchronous Resonance.
· Develop mitigation plans to address system constraints and issues.
· Lead, coach, and mentor electrical engineers, fostering technical growth and team development.
· Interact with clients to gather input, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with project deliverables.
· Review and enhance transmission planning methodologies, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
· Support business development activities and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.
Requirements
· 5+ years of professional experience as a Power Systems Engineer.
· Expertise in power system impact studies including Dynamic Stability, Load Flow, Steady State, and Short Circuit analyses.
· Proficiency with power systems software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
· Experience with automation and programming in Python.
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and clients.
· Proven ability to deliver high-quality reports and take full ownership of project outcomes.
· Team-oriented mindset with the ability to mentor, coach, and build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
