About You / What We Are Looking For

We are currently seeking a proactive and dedicated professional to join our Police Services Division on a temporary full time basis (maternity leave coverage). Reporting to the Senior Manager of Police Services, the successful candidate will provide high-level administrative support to RCMP senior leadership and the broader Police Services team. This is a fast-paced and dynamic role, ideal for a motivated self-starter eager to contribute to a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Working within the Public Safety building, this position will be responsible for providing front-facing customer support and responding to inquiries; explaining and interpreting applicable policies, rules, regulations, and procedures as required; handling confidential and sensitive information related to policing matters; scheduling and coordinating meetings including minute taking and transcription of confidential statements; and file management. Other responsibilities include maintaining departmental expenditures including invoice and purchase order preparation; reconciliation of actual to planned spending; and monthly variance reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by commercial, business, and/or office administration courses, along with experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required. The successful incumbent should possess 3-5 years of progressive experience, preferably within a municipal or public sector environment. Experience working in a similar position in the policing or RCMP field is required. Due to the term of this position and the length of time required to obtain Enhanced RCMP Clearance (minimum of 8 months), only candidates who already has enhanced clearance can be considered for this temporary role.

Preferred Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will possess a drive for excellence in customer service, sound judgment, and a sense of initiative, while being able to work independently with minimal supervision. This role requires the incumbent to have superior verbal and written communication skills, a strong sense of initiative and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information related to their scope of work. This position is highly collaborative and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team, so strong interpersonal and organizational skills are needed.

What We Offer:

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $33.09 - $38.87 plus 6 % in lieu of benefits. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
