Job Summary Reporting to the Vice President, Geology, the Director, Exploration will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing exploration programs across the company’s portfolio in Guyana and Brazil. The incumbent will provide technical and strategic leadership to identify, prioritize, and advance gold targets from early-stage discovery through resource definition. This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth pipeline through world-class exploration and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include managing multi-site field programs, optimizing budgets, mentoring technical teams, and supporting the advancement of resources toward development.
Working Conditions
The position of the Director, Exploration, will ideally be based in Brossard, Canada, with flexibility to be located elsewhere within South America or Canada and with frequent travel to Guyana and Brazil.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

Develop and implement exploration strategies aligned with corporate growth objectives.

Prioritize exploration programs and budgets across projects based on geological potential and project stage.

Provide high-level technical guidance in geological interpretation, target generation, and resource expansion.

Oversee the design and execution of drilling and field programs to ensure data quality and efficiency.

Project & Operational Management

Manage exploration teams and contractors in Guyana and Brazil, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

Ensure robust QA/QC, geological data management, and compliance with NI 43-101 and industry best practices.

Support the Geology department in advancing resources toward feasibility and production readiness.

Monitor program progress, costs, and outcomes, providing clear reporting to management.

Team Development & Collaboration

Lead, coach, and mentor a multicultural technical team to strengthen geological and operational capabilities.

Collaborate closely with the environmental, permitting, and community relations teams to ensure responsible exploration practices.

Maintain strong relationships with local authorities, partners, and consultants.
Requirements Experience
- Experience working in South America, ideally in tropical and remote environments.
- Demonstrated success in gold discovery and resource development, preferably in greenstone or Paleoproterozoic terrains.
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Earth Sciences.
Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Strong understanding of exploration regulations and permitting in Guyana and Brazil.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with geological software (Leapfrog, iogas, QGIS).
- Fluency in English required; French, Portuguese or Spanish considered an asset.
Required Behavioural Skills
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to field execution.
- High integrity and commitment to safety and ESG principles.
- Collaborative and adaptable, able to lead effectively across diverse cultural and field settings.
