This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of 390 Brant Street, Burlington, Ontario. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. Effective September 2027, this role will be required to be on site 50% of the time each month.

Position Overview

The Specialist, Talent Acquisition & Recognition plays a key role within the Human Resources team, leading the full-cycle recruitment process for both unionized and non-unionized positions. This role is responsible for delivering a seamless and positive candidate experience, from initial contact through onboarding, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders to meet organizational hiring needs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Specialist, Talent Acquisition & Recognition will include:

  • Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to provide service excellence
  • Being first point of contact for candidates and creating a positive interviewing and onboarding experience
  • Identifying the selection criteria and competencies, conducting interviews (in-person & virtually) and reference checks, extending offers of employment and negotiating total compensation
  • Managing the online applicant tracking system, including troubleshooting and updating process documentation
  • Managing the corporate internship program including developing relationships with Universities and Colleges
  • Developing and implementing the City’s recruitment and attraction strategy
  • Assisting with coordinating employee recognition programs

Requirements

You will have three (3) years of hands-on, high volume recruitment experience coupled with a University Degree in Human Resources Management (or another Degree with a post Graduate Human Resources certificate). A CHRP/CHRL designation is considered an asset. Additionally, you must have strong behavioural interviewing skills, knowledge of applicable employment legislation, collective agreements, and a proven ability to manage several competing priorities. A self starter who is committed to excellent customer service and who has demonstrated the ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels is essential.
