Principal Systems Engineer (IPT Lead)

We’re seeking an experienced and detailed-oriented professional to join our team to support the Land Vehicle Crew Training System (LVCTS) project, pending contract award. The LVCTS project will deliver advanced simulation and training solutions to the Canadian Army (CA) at five sites across Canada: Edmonton, Alberta; Shilo, Manitoba; Petawawa, Ontario; Valcartier, Quebec; and Gagetown, New Brunswick.

As the Principal Systems Engineer, you will lead an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to oversee the planning, execution, and reporting of all work within the LVCTS Systems Integration domain. The work scope includes integrating a diverse set of systems and subsystems, such as virtual environments, simulators, training management systems, IT infrastructure, and facilities, to deliver a seamless training solution for the Canadian Army.

Responsibilities

Lead a cross-functional team comprised of customer representatives, supplier representatives and internal Raytheon functional team members. Develop and execute the Integration IPT’s objectives in alignment with the contract scope and technical specifications, ensuring effective management of cost, schedule, and performance for all deliverables within the IPT charter, while escalating issues outside the charter's scope for advice and approval as needed. Manage the integration plans of all LVCST software and hardware elements including: virtual environment, training management system, simulators (hardware), and IT infrastructure. Foster collaboration and communication across multi-disciplinary IPTs and the overarching Plenary IPT to ensure successful program execution. Ensure on-time delivery of all customer, subcontractor and supplier integration/system engineering deliverables in accordance with the respective data requirement lists. Hold and facilitate regular design reviews, subcontractor performance reviews, customer meetings and implement a progress tracking method that identifies risks and opportunities to LVCTS Program Management. Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) methodology and program cost and schedule controls is required Must utilize EVM tools and techniques to estimate and communicate specific work scope remaining on responsible contract requirements Assign tasks, manage personnel, and coordinate technical and non-technical disciplines in the completion of IPT work. Track IPT progress against the plan, control costs, and ensure quality and safety standards are met. Prepare IPT status reports, cost estimates, and documentation; communicate with stakeholders, management, and team members. Identify technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions. Ensure adherence to all corporate policies, relevant safety codes, industry regulations, and all applicable legal aspects. Ensure team members comply with Raytheon Environmental, Health and Safety program and are equipped with the information, instruction, training and supervision required to perform their work safely.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Systems Design) Must be eligible for professional registration (Professional Engineer) under the provincial Association of Professional Engineers in the province of practice. Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in systems integration, preferably in the defence or aerospace sector. Proven project management/project engineering expertise in cost control, scheduling, technical performance and reporting. Program Management Professional (PMP) certification or near completion of certification. (Internal candidates only): Raytheon Program Management Excellence (PMx) Level 6 certification or near completion of certification. Successful candidate must complete RTX EVM certification immediately after hire. Exceptional leadership, decision-making and communication skills to balance varying priorities and drive program success. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, Excel, Project, SharePoint). Familiarity and experience within one or more of the following:

Training Management Systems for simulated environments

Mobile, Local and Wide area networks architectures and deployments

Command and Control (C2) and Situational Awareness (SA) applications and architecture

Modeling and Simulation applications and architectures for large scale training

Requirements Management Tools (preference For Experience With DOORS)

Experience managing integration projects within the defence or aerospace sector is an asset. Familiarity with Department of National Defence/Public Services and Procurement Canada is an asset. Bilingual in English and French is an asset. Willingness to travel as required to support business needs, supplier engagement and/or program activities.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.

The salary range for this role is 101,500 CAD - 151,500 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
