About the role

Type of position: Regular

Your future role on our team As a drafter, you’ll contribute to projects involving renewable energy, power systems, power transmission and distribution as well as plant services in the pulp and paper and data centre sectors. You’ll also work jointly with our engineers, technicians and designers and will take care of layouts for our various projects.

  • Apply BBA or client standards when drafting layouts, maps, graphs or diagrams from detailed drawings
  • Produce preliminary plans for buildings, equipment or sites using reference drawings or catalogues
  • Prepare simple schematics and perform dimensional calculations and final drawings using simple diagrams of mechanical equipment
  • Help improve dynamic block libraries and other internal tools
  • Help more experienced colleagues with more complex tasks
  • When required, help prepare site surveys
  • Apply the firm’s health and safety policy and take preventive or corrective action, where required, to perform your work safely
  • Read the firm’s prevention program and apply the directives specific to your function

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

  • Diploma of vocational studies in building or industrial design or a diploma of college studies in electrical, industrial or mechanical engineering technology or in architecture
  • Five years of relevant work experience or less
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • ASP Construction card (BBA may pay for this training, as needed)
  • Intermediate knowledge of workplace safety and field monitoring
  • Basic knowledge of electrical installation safety
  • Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
  • Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
  • Asset: Knowledge of 3D software and Revit
