Job Description: Air-Water Environmental Monitor (Industrial Sites)
Position Title: Air-Water Environmental Monitor
Location: Various industrial sites across Canada (travel required)
Pay:$25 depending on experience
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Air-Water Environmental Monitor to support environmental protection, compliance, and sustainability efforts at industrial sites across Canada. The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring air emissions and water quality, ensuring that all activities meet federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations. This position requires both fieldwork and reporting to support proactive environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities

Air Quality Monitoring
- Conduct sampling and analysis of air emissions, particulate matter, greenhouse gases, and volatile organic compounds.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain air monitoring equipment.
- Track and analyze data to identify trends, exceedances, and potential compliance risks.

Water Quality Monitoring
- Collect and test surface water, groundwater, and wastewater samples from industrial sites.
- Perform in-situ measurements (pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, etc.).
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of samples for laboratory testing.

Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare detailed field reports and documentation in line with regulatory requirements (e.g., Environment and Climate Change Canada, provincial ministries such as Alberta Environment, Ontario MECP, BC MOE).
- Support audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Contribute to environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and site compliance reports.

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Support
- Follow safety protocols and ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
- Participate in site-specific hazard assessments and emergency response preparedness.
Qualifications

Education: past experience is required we can train and mentor some candidates

Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in environmental monitoring (air and/or water) preferred.
- Experience with industrial or construction site monitoring considered an asset.

Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote locations.
- WHMIS, First Aid, and H2S Alive considered assets.

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in using environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings, often in challenging outdoor conditions.
Working Conditions
- Combination of fieldwork at industrial sites (outdoor, all weather conditions) and office-based reporting.
- Extended travel may be required.
- Exposure to remote site environments and potentially hazardous conditions.
