The Senior Accountant supports the month and year-end close, ensures Canadian and US tax accounts are in good standing, and supports the annual and interim audit process, by leveraging their strong attention to detail and communication skills. They work collaboratively with the Accounting team and utilizes their deep knowledge of accounting and financial reporting to drive process improvements and support the day-to-day accounting activities of the company.

Your Impact

• Execute month-end and year-end close activities for all of Prodigy subsidiaries, including but not limited to revenue and cost of sales recognition, US sales tax reporting, payroll analysis in addition to completing account reconciliations and reviewing the financial statements, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting results.
• Provide accurate and relevant departmental reporting commentary by completing monthly budget to actual variance analysis and investigating the root causes, to provide value-add insights to senior leadership to further their understanding of monthly business results.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret financial data and translate it into actionable business insights.
• Ensure Canadian and US tax accounts remain in good standing through diligent reconciliation and compliance work.
• Streamline accounting processes by identifying and implementing automation opportunities for greater efficiency and scalability. This includes maintaining accounting policies and assist in the maintenance of internal controls and SOPs.
• Contribute to successful audits by preparing organized documentation and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

About You

• CPA Designation.
• 4+ years of experience in Accounting.
• Must have experience with NetSuite.
• A detail-oriented accounting professional with strong knowledge of accounting theory and financial reporting.
• Adept at working cross-functionally, with excellent communication skills to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
• Experienced in both Canadian and US accounting and tax requirements, with a track record of maintaining compliance. Advanced skills in MS Excel/Google sheets.
• Proactive in identifying process improvements and comfortable working with system integrations and automation tools.
• Skilled at balancing independent work with collaborative teamwork to achieve company objectives.
• Flexible and adaptable, thriving in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and projects.
