About the role
The primary role of Tech I - Maintenance is to be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and upkeep of equipment, machinery, and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance to avoid equipment breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment, systems, and machinery.
- Maintain and repair building infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general facility upkeep.
- Monitors safety systems, such as fire alarms and emergency exits, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs,
- Report on maintenance schedules, broken equipment, and inventory needs.
- Work with other departments to schedule maintenance to schedule downtime to minimize disruptions.
- Communicate effectively with management about urgent repairs, equipment failure, or safety concerns.
- Monitor inventory levels for tools, parts, and materials.
- Request for ordering necessary supplies and replacement parts as needed.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems
- Demonstrated experience as a maintenance technician.
- Physically capable of lifting fifty pounds.
- Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods
- Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including snow blowers, lawn mowers, and small hand tools.
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent manual dexterity and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulations.
- Industrial Electrical 309A or 442 license required.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with all departments.
- Grade 12 plus Secondary Education required related to field.
