Program Summary :

The Clinical Systems and Informatics (CSI) team is a Trillium Health Partners (THP) Program that successfully implemented Epic as the hospital’s integrated Hospital Information System (HIS) in October 2020. The Program’s mandate is the integration of clinical practice, education, technology, information management, and data to create a trusted, comprehensive, integrated, evidenced based hospital information system with standardized tools and processes, to support THP’s mission of a new kind of healthcare for a healthier community.

The CSI team applies the principals of clinical informatics to inform, advise and guide the strategy for the HIS design, build, training, and implementation.

The CSI team consists of Application Analysts, Clinical Informaticians, Trainers, Business Intelligence Analyst, and Project resources who work in collaboration with clinical and non-clinical staff.

The CSI team is within the Quality, Risk, and Patient Experience and focuses on bridging the gap between technology and process through a Quintuple AIM framework with a focus on system, user and patient-based outcomes, within the resources available.

The Position :

This role reports to the Training Manager of the Clinical Systems and Informatics (CSI) team and will work closely with the Application, Clinical Informatics (CI), Project and Cogito teams, as well as collaborate with various stakeholders to build a better system through work in implementation, knowledge exchange, evaluation, information management, health equity, and engagement.

Here’s what you will get to do:

Using adult education experience and leading practices the Education Specialist will design, develop, communicate, and deliver the curriculum, lesson plans, and other supportive training materials created by the department to leaders and end users of Epic and similar software systems. The Education Specialist may update training materials and classroom content in alignment with system or workflow changes. The Education Specialist will also be responsible for delivering high quality, equitable and interactive training to end users in a variety of settings such as large or small group settings, one-on-one and huddles, etc. They will support the organization through upgrades, THRIVE program delivery and any other educational operational needs.

The role may be also responsible to lead, guide and support the coordination/management of work streams (projects) of medium complexity and support the CSI Training Manager with the coordination/management of high complexity work streams (projects). The Education Specialist supports project planning, management, implementation, and evaluation to enable successfully deliver of a variety of works streams within the CSI team as required.

Here’s what you need to have:

  • College Diploma or equivalent in a clinical discipline, health informatics, adult education, organizational development, or equivalent program, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles/theories/strategies, to develop and facilitate learning.
  • Knowledge and ability in creation of e-learnings, simulations, and a variety of teaching methodologies.
  • Experience presenting material to a variety of audiences on technical topics is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills – both written and verbal
  • Familiar using computers and can easily learn new technology.
  • Ability to build rapport, engage adult learners, and drive a positive learning experience.
  • Ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, in fast-paced, ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize effectively deliver to deadlines.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and be results-oriented.
  • Experience in a health-care environment with a basic understanding of clinical workflows and terminology an asset
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and Visio experience is an asset.
  • Previous Epic Training experience is preferred.
  • Learning Management System Experience is an asset.
  • Certified as an Epic Credential trainer is an asset.
  • Must be available to work all shifts as required.

Location:

  • This role will be a combination of remote and on-site work.
  • You must be able to attend work at any THP hospital sites (i.e Mississauga Hospital, Credit Valley Hospital, Watline, RCC, Queensway Health Centre, etc.)

Hours of Work:

  • Scheduled remote and onsite work hours will be determined by the training schedule.
  • Onsite training hours may mean varied hours of work each day between 6am and 11pm, Sunday to Saturday
  • Remote hours will be regular business time Monday to Friday based on Training Schedule
