Your Moneris Career – The Opportunity Moneris is looking for a Manager, Software Development who is passionate about engineering excellence, doing the work right, and building a team culture that makes it enjoyable along the way.

In this role, you will lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for Moneris’ Gift and Loyalty platform — a visible, merchant-facing solution undergoing significant transformation. You will drive architecture decisions, hands-on technical coaching, and the delivery of committed roadmap initiatives, all while managing a distributed team of six direct reports (primarily based in Burnaby, BC).

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $142,000 - $186,000

Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. • Lead, coach, and grow a team of six software developers, including remote team members based in Burnaby, BC
• Own the architecture, development, and delivery of the Gift and Loyalty platform — a high-visibility, enterprise-grade solution serving Moneris merchants across Canada
• Drive engineering best practices including shift-left testing, code review standards, CI/CD hygiene, and continuous improvement
• Provide hands-on technical leadership at the architectural and code-review level
• Translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and manage delivery against committed timelines
• Communicate team progress, risks, and KPIs to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams to ensure solution alignment and platform integrity
• Champion a fun, inclusive, and results-driven team culture
• Evaluate and advocate for new and emerging technologies that improve platform quality and developer productivity

Your Moneris Career - What You Bring

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience, including direct reports in a remote or distributed environment
• Proven track record designing and delivering enterprise-scale solutions with high availability, high security, and high quality
• Proficiency in Java, .NET, and SQL. Legacy system is in .NET, preference is for Java, the new platform's development language.
• Hands-on experience with cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure
• Experience with test automation practices (unit, API, and/or UI)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills — able to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Independent, self-starting work style — comfortable driving delivery in ambiguous or fast-moving environments

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience in payments, fintech, or PCI-DSS compliant environments
• Familiarity with React Native and Node.js
• Experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipeline automation
• Infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform
• Experience building or rebuilding a product from inception (0-to-1 delivery)
