About the Role

Are you research-oriented, with strong analytical and interpretation skills? We are looking for a Tax Analyst to join our Accounting and Finance department in Calgary, Alberta.

Under the direction and leadership of the Manager, Taxation, we are seeking a full-time permanent Tax Analyst to join our team. The Tax Analyst is responsible for a wide variety of taxation issues and financial reporting such as the preparation of income tax provisions, tax returns, elections and other filings.

What You Get to Do:

• Calculate income tax provisions, prepare tax returns and GST returns, and reconcile tax expenses and tax liability accounts
• Assist with preparations of other financial statement disclosures
• Maintain accurate tax attributes calculations including cost bases, safe income, and surplus pools
• Conduct tax research in areas such as the impact of new legislation on the corporation, internal asset transfers, taxable benefits, and GST and updating internal control documentation
• Manage the collection of tax related information in ATCO’s tax database

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or related program
• 2+ years of corporate income tax experience
• A professional Canadian accounting designation (CPA)
• Enrolment in or desire to complete CPA CICA in-depth tax courses
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects with deadlines
• Demonstrated strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Must have experience with preparation of tax provision and tax returns
• Familiarity with TaxPrep, tax return preparation software, is beneficial
