Our challenge

We are seeking a skilled Database Developer to support engineering and platform development across a large and evolving database estate. This role will focus on traditional enterprise database technologies such as Sybase and DB2, while also contributing to modernization initiatives involving newer platforms such as Snowflake and SingleStore. The ideal candidate will bring strong database engineering fundamentals, hands-on performance tuning experience, and scripting expertise—particularly in Python—to help deliver resilient, high-quality, and scalable database solutions. You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment where speed, stability, and operational control are all critical.

The Role - Database Developer

Responsibilities: Engineer and develop database platforms across large database estates, including Sybase, DB2, and newer database technologies. Perform performance tuning and optimization, including query tuning, indexing strategies, workload analysis, and capacity planning. Design, test, and implement database changes with a strong focus on resiliency, quality, and operational stability. Support and participate in database platform migration and modernization initiatives, including movement toward Snowflake and/or SingleStore where applicable. Execute database version upgrades, patching, and operational readiness improvements. Contribute to cloud-based database development and distribution, with emphasis on automation, standardization, and scalability. Collaborate effectively within a fast-paced Agile environment, balancing rapid delivery with strong governance and platform reliability.

Requirements

Intermediate knowledge of development and performance optimization across major RDBMS technologies, especially Sybase and DB2. Exposure to or strong interest in modern database platforms such as Snowflake and SingleStore. Strong Python scripting skills for automation, tooling, diagnostics, and data utilities. Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment with strong attention to quality, stability, and delivery timelines.

Preferred Skills

Understanding of data modeling concepts, including logical and physical modeling, normalization, and dimensional modeling. Experience with version control systems, preferably Git. Knowledge of data replication concepts and technologies, including CDC, transactional replication, and streaming-based patterns. Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban. CI/CD mindset and understanding of modern delivery practices for data and database engineering.

We can offer you
