About the role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team!

NOTE

100% Onsite 12 - Month Contract Candidates will be required to be eligible to work OT including weekends and other shifts as required This is NOT an embedded software or vehicle ECU role, but a plant-floor Controls Engineering position supporting industrial automation equipment

RESPONSIBILITIES

Hands-on automotive manufacturing Controls Engineer supporting plant floor automation (PLC, robotics, conveyors, commissioning Use Factory Information Systems (FIS) plant monitoring software to review times of automation, review and follow up automation projects and installations Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems Update program backups for automation Program new installations of machining, gantry and conveyor systems Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements Co-ordinate automation campaigns

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

College Technology Diploma Ability to read blueprints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics Familiarity with robotics Familiarity with VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives), encoders, network/Ethernet controls, Profinet

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Applied Science 3+ years of Controls experience with machining in automotive manufacturing Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery Substantial understanding of conveyors system programming and gantry systems, in addition to networking understanding, Ethernet, Profibus, Profinet Proven problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, DMAICs, TIA Portal, Step 7, Rexroth, Schneider Unity, 840D Experienced in laser burning Understanding of Cognex vision systems Simulation modeling exposure Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience TQM and Kaizen Methods Visual Factory Management

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$35.00 - $40.00 / hour (depending on experience) Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc. Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October)
