Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the MHSU Manager, Tertiary and Rehabilitation Services, the Occupational Therapist, Rehabilitation Services is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating rehabilitative programs within Island Health SI for MHSU clients. The Occupational Therapist provides input and information to the manager in the areas of service standards, policy development and rehabilitative service contract management. As well the Occupational Therapist provides consultation at the program and individual client level regarding rehabilitation practices and approaches.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as an Occupational Therapist. Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). Three (3) years of recent related experience including experience working in a mental health environment.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing including interviewing, interpersonal and leadership skills and problem-solving ability and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to work independently, organize workload, establish priorities and show initiative and creativity in clinical practice.

Ability to work effectively as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
