Location: Shannen Koostachin; 110 Bellagio Ave, Hannon, ON L0R 1P0

Total Hours per Week: 16.5

Schedule: 6:45am - 9:45 am

Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants): $28.90 per hour

About The Role

As an RECE Before School Educator, your primary responsibility is to be present for children and their families while developing and implementing programs that meet their developmental needs and interests. You will create meaningful play experiences, provide healthy snacks, supervise outdoor and indoor activities, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.

Duties vary by centre, but your role always includes supporting children, assisting colleagues, and contributing to a welcoming and well-organized environment.

Qualifications

Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE) and member in good standing with the College of ECEs Related experience in a childcare setting Demonstrated knowledge and working ability to effectively interact with children requiring behavioural guidance Demonstrated knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? Experience in program planning and implementation for JK/SK and school-aged children Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Flexibility to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and schedules Passion for supporting children, families, and colleagues in a positive, team-focused environment

Certifications

Good standing and active registration with the College of ECE

Standard First Aid with CPR Level C Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)

Key Responsibilities

Greet children and families with warmth and professionalism

Support children as they transition from home to program, including self-regulation and social engagement Engage children in meaningful activities using a programming cart of materials Provide morning snacks, ensuring children wash hands and eat safely Help children tidy up and prepare for their school day, including outdoor play as appropriate Set up and facilitate activities aligned with How Does Learning Happen?

Supervise snack and ensure all children eat safely

Provide indoor and outdoor play opportunities and support children’s interests Monitor children’s behaviour, offering guidance and support as needed

Our Board Members include Hamilton Wentworth District School Board Trustees and staff, as well as members of the community who have a keen interest in early learning and childcare. We operate full-day early learning and child care centres, as well as extended day programs before and after school in the Greater Hamilton Area.
