We are looking for an Intermediate or Senior AS/400 Technical Analyst to support an active project involving IBM i / AS/400 applications.

The selected candidate will be responsible for technical analysis, impact analysis, documentation, support to developers, application issue resolution, and support for delivery and production activities.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of the IBM i / AS/400 environment, is able to analyze existing code, understand business and technical processes, and collaborate effectively with business, functional, development, QA, infrastructure, and production teams.

Your future duties and responsibilities

The AS/400 Technical Analyst will be responsible for:

Analyzing business needs and functional requirements to identify technical impacts on IBM i / AS/400 applications.
Performing detailed impact analyses for changes, incidents, defects, and new requests.
Understanding and analyzing existing code, including programs developed in RPG, RPGLE, CL, COBOL, SQL, and other IBM i components.
Producing clear and detailed technical specifications to support development activities.
Collaborating with AS/400 developers to validate proposed technical solutions.
Identifying risks, dependencies, technical constraints, and potential impacts on existing systems.
Participating in the resolution of application incidents in development, test, acceptance, and production environments.
Performing root-cause analysis and recommending sustainable corrective solutions.
Supporting integration activities between AS/400 applications and internal or external systems.
Participating in the preparation of test plans, test scenarios, technical validations, and test evidence.
Contributing to deployment activities, including the preparation of production implementation instructions.
Documenting technical processes, application flows, business rules, and system dependencies.
Collaborating with project managers, business analysts, QA teams, developers, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders.
Providing production support as required, including analysis, diagnosis, and incident follow-up.
Communicating clearly in French and English, both verbally and in writing.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Required Qualifications

The candidate must have:

Hands-on experience as an AS/400 / IBM i Technical Analyst.
Good knowledge of the IBM i / AS/400 environment.
Ability to read, understand, and analyze existing code in RPG, RPGLE, CL, and/or COBOL on AS/400.
Good knowledge of DB2/400, SQL, physical files, logical files, and database concepts on IBM i.
Experience in technical analysis, impact analysis, and writing technical specifications.
Experience diagnosing application incidents and identifying root causes.
Ability to work with legacy applications and complex environments.
Experience working in project delivery environments with deadlines, multiple priorities, and several stakeholders.
Strong documentation, communication, and technical explanation skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Bilingual proficiency in French and English, required for this role.

• CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000–$115,000.
