Position Details
The Information Technology Team is currently seeking a Manager, IT Operations to join our team. The Manager, IT Operations will be responsible for managing the planning, installation, delivery, maintenance, and upgrades of enterprise technology infrastructure, networks, applications, data services, and cybersecurity, which are vital to the ongoing operation of Explore Edmonton and delivery of essential customer-facing services.
The Information Technology department is part of our Corporate Services Group. This group is a team of service-minded individuals who are passionate about developing and implementing smart, customer-focused business processes. This team serves multiple internal customers and comprises key business enablers and trusted business partners who deliver superior customer service through collaboration, innovation, partnerships, and leadership, ensuring the best possible user experience. In alignment with the needs of Explore Edmonton, services include providing governance advice and support, offering scalable business solutions, and creating value for employees by building and facilitating connections across the organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

The management of on-premises, off-premises (third-party), cloud-based infrastructure (Azure & AWS), and network components, including physical, logical, site-to-site, and other related third-party services.

Ensuring that all infrastructure and network changes, unplanned outages, and service-affected incidents are being properly managed and communicated.

The documentation and tracking of infrastructure assets. This includes the management of inventory and tracking through the configuration management database (CMDB) system.

Oversight of infrastructure and network-related service requests, change requests, and incidents through the preferred ticketing processes and tools.

The management of enterprise applications and data services, such as data design, strategy, application integration initiatives, scripting and system automation, Microsoft 365 services, and application controls and distribution (CASB, MDM, SASE, etc.)

The development of tactical roadmaps in alignment with organizational and IT Strategic Goals, Objectives, Policies, Directives, IT Governance Frameworks, Strategic Roadmaps, IT Security, and Risk Management

Providing infrastructure and network-related architecture plans, design specifics, controls, requirements, and recommendations to support application services, including application architecture, design, implementation, integration, operations, and rationalization.

Utilizing IT Risk Management and Disaster Recovery Planning Management industry best practices, processes and standards to ensure that all known moderate and high impact risk scenarios are properly tracked and managed. Ensuring the resiliency and availability of all infrastructure, software, and network assets.

IT Security Management, including ongoing compliance, analysis, assessment, development, enforcement, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of cybersecurity processes, policies, and services.

Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of EEC’s IT assets, services, applications, and information. This is to include, but is not limited to, internet/cybersecurity, endpoint security, cloud security, and application security, as per the NIST Security Framework.

Participating and collaborating with all EEC business areas, on the delivery of all new business technology solutions through all phases of the solution delivery and management lifecycle: Discovery, Architecture, Planning, Adoption, Implementation, Integration, Training, Testing, Operationalization, and Sustainment.

Assisting in the development and management of the “IT Service Catalogue” by including any Infrastructure and Network Services, and related Service Level Agreements (SLA), Service Delivery Processes, Service Evaluations, Communications, Tracking, and Reporting.

Supervising and managing direct reports, using and adhering to internal Human Resources policies, guidelines, best practices, processes, and standards.

Ensuring that all financial transactions and procurement events are completed with the required degree of compliance.
The successful candidate will have:

Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related field (diploma or degree) or minimum five years of IT Infrastructure, Network, Application Management, Data Management, and IT Security experience with related certifications.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ104 and JNCIA-JUNOS are considered an asset.

5+ years of experience managing complex technology infrastructure environments and delivery models.
-
3+ years of experience working with management and key business stakeholders to successfully deliver technology services within a cross-functional organization.

Experience managing On-Prem and Cloud-Based Infrastructure, Network, Applications, Data Services, Servers, Switches, Firewalls and Enterprise System Integrations.
-
Familiarity with the latest digital solutions, security governance models and standards.
-
Knowledge of systems, network, and data security solutions/frameworks such as Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Network Access Control (NAC), and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
-
Knowledge of data governance, data management, and business processes improvements.
-
Understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles.
-
In-depth knowledge of escalation procedures, incident management, and other disciplines related to service delivery.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Expertise in people management and leadership, with the ability to train and guide team members.
-
Experience in dealing with third-party service providers and product vendors.

Operational ability in a diverse, complex environment.

Solid resource planning and problem-solving competencies.
