About the role

Our Mission at Enya

At Enya, we are building the education this country should have had from the beginning: one which addresses the needs of each and every person, honours their traditions, and accommodates their needs instead of the other way around. Shaped by our lived experiences, our team is turning this understanding into technology that uplifts the children the education system has overlooked.

With our first school district partnership live and ambitious growth targets ahead, we need someone to drive adoption across both institutional and consumer markets .

The Role

This is a foundational leadership hire . You'll own our go to market strategy as we scale across North America.

You're not inheriting a playbook. You'll be writing it: closing high-ticket contracts with school districts, scaling our consumer user base from 200 to millions, and proving that personalized learning can grow through both top-down partnerships and grassroots adoption.

This role p ays $75,000 - $80,000 base + performance based commission (2% on first $50K ARR, 5% thereafter) + equity . You'll report directly to the CEO as a founding member of leadership.

We're building for people who measure success differently. The chance to design something from scratch. To close deals that change how districts serve newcomer students. To look back in five years and know: "I built that."

What You'll Do

Drive Dual-Channel Growth

  • Own B2B Sales: Close contracts with school districts across the US and Canada. You'll navigate procurement cycles, build relationships with superintendents and district decision-makers, and secure multi-year agreements.
  • Scale B2C Adoption: Lead consumer growth from 200 users to viral adoption. Run growth experiments, manage performance ads, and build organic loops that get parents and teachers using Enya without a district mandate.
  • Manage Marketing Budget: Execute on $140K-$180K in performance ads, micro-influencer campaigns, and community events. You'll make every dollar count.

Build Strategic Partnerships

  • Beyond School Districts: Develop partnerships with organizations like public libraries, transit systems, and community centres to expand our reach and impact.
  • Navigate Institutional Complexity: Understand how districts make purchasing decisions. Build trust with education ministries, school boards, and key stakeholders who control budgets.

Scale International Expansion

  • Enter New Markets: Identify and execute market entry strategies for key OECD nations where literacy gaps create significant opportunities.
  • Adapt Playbooks: Localize sales and marketing strategies to fit different educational systems and procurement processes.

Build the Team

  • Lead a Small Team: Manage a growing team (starting under 5 people) focused on client success, media production, and partnership development.
  • Foster Culture: Create an environment where your team feels connected to the mission and empowered to execute.

What You Bring

Must-Haves

  • High Ticket B2B Sales Experience: You've sold software to institutional buyers. Ideally in EdTech, but we'll consider strong B2B SaaS backgrounds with proven results.
  • Consumer Growth Fluency: You understand how to scale a product from hundreds to millions of users. You've run growth experiments, tested freemium models, or driven viral adoption.
  • Education Sector Connections: You have relationships with school districts, education ministries, or key decision-makers. You know how to navigate the politics and timelines of institutional sales.
  • Startup Mindset: You're okay with ambiguity. You'd rather build than execute someone else's plan. You can move fast with a scrappy budget and prove ROI along the way.

Bonus Points

  • Closed sizeable contracts with US or Canadian school districts or education ministries.
  • Scaled a software product from zero to 1-10 million users (hockey stick growth).
  • Direct experience with teacher unions, school boards, or education policy bodies.
  • Led market entry into at least one new international territory (UK, Australia, Germany, etc.).
  • Strong network of contacts among educational consultants, lobbyists, or policy advisors in North America.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Real Impact: Your deals will directly shape how thousands of students access education. You're not optimizing an existing funnel. You're building it.
  • Mission Alignment: You'll work with people who actually care about equity and serving kids the system has failed.
  • Uncapped Earning Potential: Performance-based commission structure means no ceiling on what you can earn.
  • Flexibility: Remote-first. Work from anywhere in the US or Canada. Meetings with districts happen virtually.
  • Ownership: Early-stage equity in a company at the beginning, with a team that wants to build something that matters.

Why This Might Not Be a Fit

We believe in radical transparency. Here is when this role might not be right for you:

  • You need one clear lane. This role requires juggling B2B institutional sales and B2C growth marketing simultaneously. If you prefer to specialize in just one channel, this will feel scattered.
  • You prefer established playbooks. We're pre-seed. If you need proven processes and clear benchmarks to do your best work, this will be frustrating. We're still inventing most of what we do.
  • You want a large team from day one. You'll be managing a small, scrappy team (under 5 people initially). If you need a fully built-out org to execute, this isn't there yet.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Base Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 CAD (flexible for the right candidate).
  • Commission: 2% on first $50K ARR, 5% on everything above (negotiable for performance-driven candidates).
  • Equity: Stock options with standard vesting. For exceptional candidates, an additional equity grant is available.
  • Location: Remote (US or Canada), occasional travel for key in-person moments.
