The location in Crofton, (British Columbia, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Reliability Engineer. This job is full‑time permanent.

The Reliability Engineer’s responsibility is to maintain and improve the reliability of our manufacturing operations by eliminating production limiting failures from our process and increasing the life of our assets.  The reliability engineer will partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, purchasing and mill leaders to realize improved reliability in all process areas.

The ideal candidate will build effective, trusting business relationships and partnerships across the organization to execute the implementation of plans supporting the company’s strategic business direction.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Identify & implement improvements in process & equipment reliability across the Mill by working closely with operations & maintenance personnel.
  • Provide maintenance engineering, technical assistance & reliability leadership/support.
  • Serve as a key interface for Reliability improvement by reviewing equipment history & performing failure cause analysis.
  • Review existing preventive maintenance processes for value to the maintenance effort & propose changes as necessary to improve the reliability of the assets.
  • Guide efforts to maintain and/or improve the reliability of plant equipment and processes.
  • Define, develop, administer, and refine the equipment asset care, condition monitoring and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Execute outage work/projects as assigned.
  • Review and follow‑up on equipment failures, utilizing root cause failure analysis, and offer solutions and own corrective action to prevent future failures.
  • Champion and lead the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process for the area.
  • Integrate reliability‑centered maintenance, risk‑based inspections, equipment condition monitoring, root cause analysis, critical spare parts management and other reliability best practices in normal day‑to‑day activities.
  • Provide technical expertise for the analysis, development and evaluation of new maintenance technologies and equipment, and fully utilize all existing technology.
  • Serve as a resource for operators and maintenance to learn and understand more about maintenance processes and their related systems and strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within processes, equipment/controls, environmental/safety areas, employee work environment, costs, quality, etc.
  • Develop optimization/improvement strategies based on systems analysis and performance metrics.
  • Support the implementation of reliability improvement projects.
  • Track cost savings associated with Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Provide technical support with the development of Shutdown Work Scope.
  • Provide technical support during execution of critical S/D work.

  • Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the mill.
  • High degree of collaboration with both Maintenance and Operations personnel.
  • Working knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Working knowledge of Planning and Scheduling Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and time management skills

  • Analytical, critical thinking and proven problem‑solving skills

  • Advanced experience, knowledge and understanding of safe work practices

Required Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • BS Degree or Technologist in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years working in an industrial environment
  • Rotating equipment troubleshooting aptitude
  • Some Experience in utilizing reliability systems, methods and processes
  • Knowledgeable using a Computerized Maintenance Management System or ability to learn
  • Willingness to work extended hours to support plant outages

The salary for this position is CAD $110-120k per year. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience
