About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-orientedAccountantto join our finance team. This role provides exposure to a wide range of accounting and finance activities within a fast-growing technology environment.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting functions and support the financial health of the business. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports including compliance related, ensuring compliance of company’s spend and travel policies, and supporting management with financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain general ledger and journal entries, including reconciliations
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Complete bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking
- Ensure compliance with ASPE standards, lending and tax requirements
- Process and review expense claims in accordance with prescribed company policies
- Prepare and submit GST/HST filing and other required filings
- Support external audits by providing requested information and documentation
- Keep financial records accurate, organized, and up to date
- Participate and own ad hoc projects as assigned
- Look for opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
Qualifications & Experience
- Holder of Bachelors in Accounting, Accounting and Finance or Business Administration with Accounting specialization
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience ideally in a tech environment
- CPA Canada Qualified (or finalist - completed CFE)
- Demonstrated experience in handling full set of books including consolidation preferred
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Googlesheet
- Proficiency in QBO or similar
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and prepare clear detailed reports
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team, and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to interact fluidly cross-function across the organization
