About the role

The Opportunity:

Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of part-time Cashier, at our Southdale Food Store located at 77 Vermillion Rd, in Winnipeg, MB. The Cashier will report to the Frontend Manager.

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Deliver world-class customer service that is fast, friendly and efficient.
  • Educate customers on the benefits of membership in Red River Co-op and encourage them to join.
  • Operate a cash register, take payment from customers and provide change.
  • Follow all legal requirements regarding the sale of lottery and tobacco products.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to ensure department image and safety standards are followed. Ensure sanitation and cleanliness standards are to Co-op specifications, including cleaning of all equipment and display cases.
  • Follow safe front-line loss prevention practices and maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise from the site.
  • Present a neat, clean, well-merchandised department and related work areas (checkout areas and nearby displays).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. We’re looking for individuals who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.
  • Good mental math skills.
  • Experience working in a retail environment. Specifically, experience handling cash would be an asset.
  • Open availability and willingness to work different shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends. Shift times will vary anywhere between 6am-11pm.
  • Available to work up to 40 hours a week.
