Data Solutions Analyst
About the role
About Equity Exploration
Equity Exploration is a Vancouver-based mineral exploration consultancy supporting exploration companies across Canada and internationally. Our work spans geology, field operations, project execution, technical interpretation, and business development. We are a growing, partner-led business with deep technical expertise and a practical, hands-on culture. As the company continues to grow, we are looking for someone to help build stronger data workflows, internal tools, and decision-support systems in priority areas of the business. At Equity, we value teamwork, accountability, adaptability and integrity and strive to provide a safe and enjoyable work environment.
Your Opportunity
This is a builder role for someone who enjoys turning messy, scattered information into practical systems that people actually use. We are not looking for someone to simply maintain existing reports. The first priority will be to build data workflows and internal tools around business development intelligence, operational visibility, and other high-priority business needs. You will work with spreadsheets, project records, CRM data, market signals, financial and operational information, and other internal and external sources. Some problems will be clearly defined; others will require you to help clarify the real question, structure the data, build a useful first version, and improve it over time. This role is a good fit for someone who likes ambiguity, wants to build from scratch, and wants to work close to business decision-making rather than sit in a narrow reporting function.
What you'll do
Clean, structure, and maintain data from multiple internal and external sources. Build practical tools, trackers, dashboards, and workflows from scratch in PowerBI. Translate business questions into clear data requirements and usable outputs. Support business development intelligence, including tracking companies, projects, market signals, and follow-up opportunities. Help automate repeatable workflows using Microsoft 365 tools and other practical platforms. Improve data quality by identifying duplicates, gaps, inconsistencies, and unreliable inputs. Work with non-technical stakeholders to understand needs and design useful solutions. Document key workflows and data definitions so systems can scale over time.
What you'll need
4–5 years of experience in data analysis, data operations, business analysis, BI, analytics engineering, or a similar role. Strong hands-on experience cleaning, structuring, and making sense of messy data. Experience building tools, workflows, dashboards, trackers, or data processes from scratch. Strong Excel skills, including formulas, structured tables, Power Query, and data cleaning. Experience with Microsoft 365 tools such as SharePoint Lists, Power Automate, Power BI, Teams, or Forms. Comfort working with structured datasets, relational data concepts, and practical data models. Ability to work through ambiguity and clarify what problem needs to be solved. Strong communication skills with non-technical stakeholders. Practical judgment and a bias toward building useful, maintainable solutions.
Nice to Have
Experience with CRM systems such as Pipedrive, HubSpot, or Salesforce. Experience with workflow automation, APIs, RSS feeds, email-based data intake, or data ingestion. Experience in mining, natural resources, consulting, engineering, construction, project-based businesses, or professional services. Familiarity with geospatial, project, or technical data. SQL, Python, or similar data processing experience. Equity's ‘Bedrock Principles’ guide our day-to-day actions in the office and in the field: Lead by Example - Identify strengths in your team and empower those around you. Strive to teach and learn every day. Take action. Communicate Clearly - Develop your written and verbal skills to effectively convey ideas, conclusions, and recommendations in a concise, reliable, professional, and fit-for-purpose manner. Be a Relentless and Reliable Teammate - Work collaboratively to deliver results while providing and delegating opportunities throughout the journey; recognize the achievements of the team. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts! Act Professionally - Perform with integrity and be respectful of the community, environment and individuals surrounding your project. Think Analytically - Identify and evaluate the available information, facts, and resources to make informed decisions, craft impactful products and design creative solutions. Achieve - Produce effective, on-time and on-budget deliverables. Take initiative and responsibility for outcomes. Be accountable. Improve - Commit to self-development and improving Equity’s programs and processes and mentoring those under your supervision. Be a catalyst for positive change. Adapt - Design flexible plans, practice adaptability and manage scope changes and uncertainty intrinsic to exploration program management.
