Job Title: Senior Resource & Mining Planning Manager Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Employment Type: Full-Time (20-40% travel required)
About the Role We are hiring for one of our clients, a leading heavy building materials manufacturer in North America. We are seeking a Senior Resource and Mine Planning Manager for the Central Canada region to accurately assess and estimate aggregate reserves and resources, ensuring annual reporting and filings meet SEC SK-1300 compliance. You will lead a team of resource professionals and collaborate with key functional groups to provide ongoing operational support, conduct geological assessments, and generate mining plans that maximize resource utilization, reduce costs, and ensure operational safety.
What You Will Accomplish Act as a Qualified Person (QP), managing and tracking aggregate reserves and resources for the Central Canada region, including annual reporting/filing in compliance with SEC SK-1300 regulations. Manage mine planning development in collaboration with Operations, including short-term and long-term plans to optimize stripping, extraction, and progressive rehabilitation activities. Collaborate with local business units on the implementation of mining plans and routinely monitor progress. Lead a team of resource professionals and manage consultants/contractors required to conduct geological investigations and build 3D geological models. Provide ongoing operational support to local business units, including the development and review of annual operational plans and troubleshooting. Work closely with the Land Management team to identify and map new resource opportunities and lead due diligence. Provide necessary technical support for all Land and Environmental permitting processes. Collaborate with safety, manufacturing, and operations groups to ensure safe mining design and compliance with all acts and regulations. Routinely visit and inspect site operations (20-40% travel, mostly day trips) and provide support for addressing geotechnical and slope stability risks. Promote a culture of safety by communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
What We Are Looking For Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geo-sciences, or a similar field. Experience: Minimum 10 years of work experience in the mining or construction materials industry. Certifications: Professional Engineering or Geoscience certification is mandatory (must possess active P.Eng or P.Geo certification). Technical Skills: Proficiency in resource estimation, mine planning, and geological software (Vulcan or Carlson preferred), GIS mapping (ArcGIS), and 3D modeling. Knowledge: Working knowledge of mine planning regulations and industry best practices. Attributes: Solid project management skills, self-starter, disciplined, process-oriented, and equipped with strong analytical and presentation skills. Safety Requirement: Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and the proper use of approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Subject to reasonable accommodation requests under applicable human rights law, employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass mandatory fit tests.
