minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is proud to be part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), an initiative aimed at enhancing nursing practice and strengthening quality of care across the health system. mNPRs set the minimum number of nurses providing care to patients on a given unit. In British Columbia, mNPRs are developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) and health organizations. Description JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family-centred framework and continuum based care model and in accordance with the established standards of professional practice and the vision and values of the organization, provides clinical education services including individual and group learning assessments and opportunities. Develops, implements and evaluates clinical education programs and resources using specialized theory and knowledge of general and specialized clinical practice, teaching and learning principles and processes. Consults, confers and collaborates with educators, the clinical program and other team members in the promotion of continuous quality improvement, resolution of clinical education issues and coordination of activities required for progressive educational and clinical practice programs. Takes corrective action with respect to individual and group learning needs.This work is framed within VCH’s commitments to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of recognized post-basic education in gastroenterology/GI endoscopy nursing, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Three (3) years’ recent, related nursing experience in the designated clinical area(s) including one (1) year related teaching experience and/or group facilitation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of Gastrointestinal (GI) anatomy and physiology.Knowledge of pharmacology and client physiological reactions, related to conscious sedation.Knowledge of nursing problems commonly encountered in an endoscopy environment.General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction approach and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.Demonstrated ability in the initiation and management of IV therapy and administration of IV medications.Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient/resident care.Knowledge of research methodology and processes.Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and lead.Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking in approach to teaching.Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and material.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member, leader and facilitator.Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.Demonstrated ability to function effectively and efficiently in emergency situations Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
