Position Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within the facility to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support operations goals. This role manages a team of maintenance supervisors and technicians and coordinates preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. The Maintenance Manager ensures compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies while driving continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and manage the maintenance team, ensuring proper training and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative culture and team-first mindset to fully support plant operational objectives, using metrics to measure maintenance performance, continuous improvement, and asset reliability.
- Promote safety and a safe work environment for all employees and contractors.
- Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance work orders, projects, and resources to meet operational needs.
- Develop standard processes for corrective action plans that improve asset care.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, BRCGS regulations, GMPs, and maintain all relevant documentation.
- Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze equipment performance data and implement solutions to reduce breakdowns and improve reliability.
- Lead and direct fact-based and data-driven decision-making through effective utilization of RCA, TPM/AM, and LCAM methodologies.
- Establish reliability and work planning KPIs to monitor performance and improvement (e.g., PM/CM ratio, MTBF, MTTR, Wrench Time).
- Champion and drive asset standardization throughout the facility.
- Capital Projects & Engineering Support
- Collaborate with Engineering on new equipment purchases to ensure maintainability and reliability, and support commissioning and training.
- Support the development and execution of plant CAPEX projects.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support equipment upgrades and process improvements.
- Financial & Resource Management
- Monitor and control maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated and passionate individual with a high sense of urgency, thrives with a wide variety of work, and can deliver consistent results on multiple priorities
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering or related field
- 10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably food or CPG, with 3-5 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, HVAC standards, CMMS systems, and reliability principles
- Excellent problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) certification an asset
- Certified Asset Management Professional designation an asset (PEMAC)
