Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000

Pinchin is seeking a Senior Project Technologist to join our Consulting Team in our Richmond office.

As the Senior Project Technologist reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our team by assessing and monitoring various workplaces and building structures throughout BC. Your primary mission will be to identify hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, mercury, and PCBs and ensure the strict implementation of health and safety protocols before and during any disturbance or removal of these hazardous materials prior to building renovation or demolition.

You will be responsible for conducting building assessments, abatement field reviews and writing site review reports and technical reports. Effective communication with your manager and client stakeholders will be an important part of your role, ultimately ensuring that project objectives and needs are met.

Pinchin offers an extensive training program coupled with field experience and direct one-to-one mentoring. These resources are designed to develop and enhance your assessment skills, equipping you with the proficiency needed to excel in your role.

A Day in the life of a Senior Project Technologist at Pinchin:

  • Conduct site assessments, inspections and testing relating to hazardous building materials
  • Travel between different job sites within the Lower Mainland and throughout BC
  • Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to WorkSafe BC requirements
  • Prepare technical reports – detailing your assessment findings and providing recommendations
  • Coordinate and monitor hazardous materials abatement sub-contractors
  • Collection and analysis of air samples for asbestos, lead and other hazardous materials
  • Use and calibrate field sampling equipment and microscopes
  • Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
  • Develop and maintain positive colleague and client relationships

What you bring to the Pinchin team:

  • Good communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to write technical reports an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Availability to work outside our core business hours and weekend rotations
  • Availability to travel for extended periods (i.e. up to 2-3 weeks) in remote locations in BC
  • Field work experience an asset
  • Related post-secondary education degree, diploma an asset
  • Familiarity of health and safety legislation and guidelines an asset
  • Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.) and structures an asset
  • Experience reading and interpreting floor plans an asset
  • Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment an asset
  • Vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance as travel around the designated region is required
  • There are times when employees are required by our clients to undergo security clearances in order to gain access to certain job sites
