Position Summary: Wood's Homes is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accounting Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for analyzing accounts, preparing financial reports including financial statements and funder reports, compiling and producing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, and other duties as required. Our ideal candidate is committed to delivering high-quality services while promoting our Health and Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare timely and accurate accounting reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and analyses for Senior Management and Program Managers.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management to prepare annual operating budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are properly documented, implemented and adhered to.
  • Perform timely and accurate daily and monthly account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Assist in the performance of monthly review procedures over the cash process and any other processes if requested.
  • Work closely with program area leaders to respond to queries and issues as they arise.
  • Hold regular meetings with the Accounting Manager to discuss financial account analyses, review findings, and address any discrepancies or issues.
  • Assist with the implementation of efficiency initiatives including automation where possible.
  • Prepare annual provincial and federal government reports.
  • Liaise with payroll personnel to ensure the completeness and accuracy of payroll data in the general ledger.
  • Participate in workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure health and safety compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree or diploma in a related field; CPA or CA/CGA/CMA designation (or near completion) is desirable.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with several years in hands-on full-cycle accounting.
  • Proficiency in preparing month-end financial statements and working papers.
  • Familiarity with financial software (experience with Great Plains and Planning Maestro is an asset).
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting is a plus.
