About the role
SLB is seeking a motivated and hands-on individual to join our Field Service team as an Artificial Lift Field Specialist Trainee in Nisku, AB. In this role, you will support the installation, start-up, and troubleshooting of Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery at the wellsite. You will work closely with field specialists, clients, and rig crews to execute operations and maintain equipment performance. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, field-based environment, demonstrates strong technical curiosity, and is committed to safety and continuous learning. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise in artificial lift systems while contributing directly to operational performance and service quality. Roles and Responsibilities Execute installation, retrieval (pulls), start-up, and basic troubleshooting of ESP systems. Follow standard operating procedures, checklists, and safety protocols to ensure high-quality service delivery. Monitor ESP system performance and report operational issues or deviations. Collaborate with field teams, clients, and rig crew to ensure smooth execution of operations. Support implementation of new field processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Identify and escalate risks to always ensure safe operations. Complete accurate field documentation and service reports for all onsite activities. Participate in knowledge sharing and apply lessons learned to improve performance and safety. Qualifications and Experience College diploma or associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Engineering Technologist (or equivalent experience, including military) Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record Previous oilfield or ESP experience is considered an asset Mechanical and electrical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills Basic computer skills and the ability to complete digital reporting Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to work in a rotational schedule and perform work outdoors in varying conditions Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada without company sponsorship Schlumberger Canada Limited is committed to workplace diversity and employment equity and supports initiatives to enhance employment opportunities for local workforces and Indigenous Persons.
