Calgary’s science centre is a pioneer in science entertainment and programming, with roots dating back to 1967. Home to one of Western Canada’s largest dome theatre, the Digital Immersion Gallery, VR experiences, and innovative spaces like Steven’s Lab, where interactive experiments unfold before your eyes. From the robot-dog Flint to Canada’s first robot-coa5ter, R05iE, and a 15-acre park surrounding the science of the developing brain, Spark is a hub for creative encounters.

Position Overview

TheCoordinator, Developmentplays an essential role in supporting TELUS Spark’s fundraising and community engagement activities. Reporting to the Manager, Fundraising & Donor Engagement, this role provides critical operational support across the Advancement team, ensuring strong donor stewardship, accurate data management, and seamless coordination of community access programs.

This position is ideal for someone who ishighly organized, detail-oriented, and energized by supporting meaningful community impact. The Coordinator ensures the systems, communications, and processes behind fundraising run smoothly—helping Spark build strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.

Key areas of focus includefundraising database management, donor stewardship support, gift processing, community access program coordination, and event logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Advancement Operations & Database Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor activity in theRaiser’s Edge NXTfundraising database.
  • Support Advancement operations through data management includinggift processing, tax receipting, data analysis, reporting, and donor file maintenance.
  • Assist with development materials includingdonor correspondence, prospect research, briefing notes, board reports, pipeline tracking, and contact reports.
  • Maintain documentation related to donor and sponsor relationships and assist with the preparation of development dashboards and fundraising reports.

Donor Stewardship & Fulfillment

  • Support donor stewardship by coordinatingacknowledgement letters, communications, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage donor and sponsorshipfulfillment commitments, including ticket allocations, recognition, logo placement, and pledge tracking.
  • Assist with the preparation ofsponsor and donor impact reports.

Community Access Program Coordination

  • Manage Spark’sCommunity Access Program, which includes:
    • Community Connections
    • Learning Connections
    • Camperships
    • Fair Entry
    • Access2
    • New Canadian programs
  • Coordinate applications, review processes, partner communications, and program tracking.
  • Maintain relationships withnonprofit organizations, social agencies, and school boardsparticipating in the program.
  • Coordinate booking logistics with the Spark Call Centre forLearning Connectionsschool visits.

Event & Engagement Support

  • Assist in the coordination of donor and sponsor events, includingFamily Science Night and other engagement activities.
  • Support logistics, invitations, and fulfillment related to Advancement events.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Advancement team to providedata, testimonials, and program impact informationto support funding proposals and sponsor reporting.
  • Support research and administrative activities related toSpark’s Board Alumni program.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture that valueshigh performance, curiosity, flexibility, and kindness.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit administration, database management, or a related field.
  • Experience working with fundraising or CRM databases (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and confidential donor information.
  • Experience supporting donor stewardship, events, or community engagement initiatives is an asset.
  • Understanding of CRA charitable receipting guidelines is considered an asset.
