Recreation Assistant (Summer Student) - Patty's Place, Walmley ADP
About the role
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:
- To assist in the provision of therapeutic, social, recreational programs and provide ADL assistance for clients with cognitive impairments.
- To apply principles of Montessori- based Dementia Programming.
- To assist in monitoring and evaluating individual client’s plan of service.
- To document information pertinent to the client’s activities on a daily basis.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Persons who are between 15 to 30 years of age are eligible.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Currently enrolled in, or have completed post-secondary education in social services, gerontology, nursing or related.
- Current TB test.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge and understanding of dementia care and available community resources is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.
SALARY & COMPENSATION:

$17.60 per hours (plus a $3.00 extra per hour pandemic wage enhancement for direct client care)
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
