Reporting to the Data Architecture Lead, the Data & Analytics System (DAS) Architect is responsible for conceptualizing and
assembling data architecture and technology solution architecture designs to ensure that DAS capabilities meet business needs and
are compatible with existing enterprise and data architecture principles.

Key to success in this role is a deep understanding of data and analytics technologies. Thorough knowledge of vendor reference
architectures, data and analytics design patterns and storage options is essential, such as vendor data platform architectures, data
fabric, data mesh, medallion architecture, lakehouses, data warehouses, and data lakes. Leveraging and maturing Data Ops
methodology is also required. Success also hinges on the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
including other Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Developers, Data Scientists, Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, and
Cloud Platform teams, to design and implement robust, secure, and scalable data & analytics solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Expand and evolve DAS Solution and Data Architecture based on business requirements and information on evolving Data &

Analytics capabilities and solutions.

  • Collaborate with Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Developers, Infrastructure, Cloud Platforms, Enterprise

Architecture, Cyber Security, and Technology Platforms to determine Data & Analytics Platform configuration settings,
ensuring alignment with security policy, analytics capability, cost, and performance requirements.

  • Engage with external Data and Analytics service providers, vendors, associations, other Utilities, Electricity Canada, and

Gartner to stay current with vendor and other Utility roadmaps to inform the DAS roadmap.

  • Perform capability fit assessments of alternative solutions, including Proof of Concepts, engaging with external Data and

Analytics vendors and service providers.

  • Provide technical leadership for Data & Analytics initiatives.
  • Deliver the architectural design of technology solutions, utilizing knowledge of defined reference architectures, technology

trends, and implementation experience to translate a business need into a solution blueprint that represents an end-to-end
solution.

  • Ensure the logical and physical architecture for a project aligns with the standards and reference architectures defined by the

technical domain and enterprise architects; and is aligned with Corporate Strategies.

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to develop, improve, and maintain enterprise architecture, governance, reference

architectures, technology standards, technical capability guidelines, and guardrails.

  • Align with Cyber Security and be an advocate of data security and data governance principles and ensure appropriate security

and governance practices are embedded in all our products and processes.

  • Analyze the current solution portfolio to detect gaps/deficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Lead and facilitate research and assessment of emerging trends and advancements in technologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Develop and evolve solution and data architecture principles, standards, and patterns to support decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • A four year degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of

five years general IT experience, including three years of directly applicable Data & Analytics, architecture, and programming
experience;
OR

  • A two year diploma in Computer Programming Technology or relevant discipline from an institute of recognized standing with

a minimum of seven years general IT experience, including three years of directly applicable Data & Analytics, architecture,
and programming experience.

  • Experience in architecture, design and a deep understanding of current Data & Analytics architecture and enterprise

architecture.

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, and Kafka.
  • Working knowledge of Data Engineering development processes, such as ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) both for Business

Intelligence and Machine Learning.

  • Basic understanding of Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Experience in DevOps and Agile (Scrum/Kanban), preferred.
  • Ability to document, model, and analyze complex processes, people, data, and technology to formulate recommended

architectures.

  • Demonstrated ability to be the technical lead on multiple projects or activities with competing priorities.
  • Experience with bridging communication on complex requirements between technical and business-oriented audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad network of stakeholders and teams.
  • Sound knowledge on Enterprise Architecture and Cyber Security principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address data-related issues.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading, coaching, and mentoring team members.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $47.22-$65.19 Hourly,
$90,484.68-$124,925.58 Annually.
