About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Community Health Nurse to join our team in providing testing, care, and health education to help reduce the spread of HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections. This role combines clinic-based and community outreach work, focusing on harm reduction, client empowerment, and positive health outcomes for diverse and often marginalized populations. You will work on a casual basis with shifts assigned to cover ongoing vacant shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide HIV/HCV/STI testing within RN scope of practice, with treatment and referrals as needed
  • Deliver harm reduction education, counselling, and support in clinical and community settings
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community partners to support client care and prevention efforts
  • Maintain accurate client and program data, records, and reports
  • Provide culturally safe health education for LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC communities
  • Distribute harm reduction supplies and train individuals/community partners in Naloxone use
  • Liaise with housing providers, mental health, and substance use services to coordinate holistic client support

Required Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing from a recognized institution
  • Current RN licensure with membership in BCCNP
  • Minimum 2 years of recent community or public health nursing experience with a communicable disease component, or equivalent training and experience
  • Experience working with street-involved or vulnerable populations
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes
  • Ability to lift up to 10 kg for extended periods
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check

Note: Applicants without STI Certified Practice who are willing to complete the certification will be considered.
