Shop Manager/Mill Wright/Mechanic Needed – Wage based on qualifications and experience

We are looking for a qualified Red Seal Mechanic or Mill Wright Manager to take charge of our in-house shop located in Sudbury. This critical role will allow the right candidate to have the freedom to make our shop special. The right candidate must be able to manage our fleet of trucks, trailers and equipment that also includes extensive small engine maintenance. This position will also require that the candidate has experience and a passion for fabrication. We will also offer the right candidate a full-time apprentice and a healthy tool budget for whatever is required to make our shop a highly functional operation.

Job Description:

Shop Manager/Mill Wright Mechanic - Military Veterans, Reservists and Military Family Members Encouraged to reply

Job Summary: Skilled work repairing and maintaining small and large equipment and various small engine equipment, air compressors, and overall fleet management. This is a unique opportunity to make our shop your very own! Travel/relocation subsidies available for the right candidate.

Essential Job Functions

  • The employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential duties:

  • Diagnose and repair problems and/or failures in a wide variety of equipment (e.g. pumps, compressors, hydraulic rams, sprayers, generators, switches, lights, etc.) to identify equipment and/or system repair and replacement needs

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance. Manage all tools, smallware's while also servicing each job crew needs as assigned

  • Maintain tools and/or equipment to ensure the availability of equipment in safe operating condition. Manage fleet of large equipment, trailers, trucks and other related items.

  • Fabricate metal parts as needed and/or assigned (e.g. cut, shape and assemble replacement parts, etc.

  • Prepare documentation (e.g. time and materials, job specifications, estimates materials, etc.) of written support in compliance with regulations and department communication

  • Request equipment and supplies needed to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items to complete the necessary installation/repair

  • Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work. Assist other trade personnel as required

  • Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects/work orders efficiently.

  • Perform other job duties as assigned

Qualifications (additional)

Fluency in both English and French is considered an asset
