About the role

Planning Lead – Nuclear Project

A leading project delivery and consulting organization is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Planning Lead to oversee planning and scheduling activities for a large-scale, multi-phased capital program based in Kincardine, Ontario. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Primavera P6 and demonstrated experience supporting highly complex infrastructure or energy programs involving multi-billion-dollar project portfolios. This individual will bring a proactive mindset focused on schedule optimization, risk identification, and delivery efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, challenge, and optimize highly detailed integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with program milestones, critical deliverables, and strategic objectives. Analyze, justify, and present schedule performance, forecasts, and recovery strategies to executive leadership and senior governance stakeholders. Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, and key stakeholders to validate schedule logic, sequencing, and assumptions. Monitor project progress, identify schedule variances, and provide ongoing reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis. Support the development of baseline schedules and review contractor schedules for integration into the master program schedule. Conduct critical path analysis, schedule risk assessments, and mitigation planning to proactively address potential delays. Develop and report against Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics, identifying opportunities to improve schedule and cost performance. Contribute to and support Quantitative Schedule Risk Assessments (QSRA) and Quantitative Cost Risk Assessments (QCRA). Participate in program and stakeholder meetings, providing schedule insights, recommendations, and strategic planning support. Ensure adherence to project controls standards, governance processes, and reporting requirements. Support resource loading and leveling activities as part of integrated project controls functions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. 15+ years of experience in project scheduling and planning, with a strong focus on large-scale infrastructure, industrial, or energy sector projects. Minimum 10 years of experience in a lead or leadership scheduling capacity supporting complex capital programs. Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 is required. Experience within nuclear or other highly regulated industries is considered a strong asset. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills. Ability and willingness to work on-site in Kincardine, Ontario, approximately three days per week. International project experience within regulated or nuclear environments is welcomed. Relocation support may be considered for qualified candidates on a case-by-case basis.
